RSPCA Policy F2 Transportation of farm animals
| 2.1 | The RSPCA believes that farm animals should be consigned directly to their destination rather than indirectly through saleyards or other collection points. |
| 2.2 | Farm animals must be slaughtered as close as possible to the point of production to minimise stress caused by the transportation process. |
| 2.3 | Farm animals subjected to painful husbandry procedures must not be transported until wounds are sufficiently healed. |
| 2.4 | Farm animals must not be left in stationary transport vehicles overnight or during other extended periods. |
| 2.5 | Farm animals transported in multi-deck vehicles should not be exposed to soiling from animals on the levels above. |
RSPCA policies reflect the best available evidence to direct and guide RSPCA and others, to promote and achieve good animal welfare outcomes.
Reference to ‘the RSPCA’ or ‘RSPCA’ in this document means RSPCA Australia and each of the RSPCA Australia member Societies.
