RSPCA Policy F1 Transportation of animals – general principles
1. 1 The RSPCA believes that people responsible for the transport of animals – be that by land, sea or air - must ensure their welfare and safety.

2. 1 The RSPCA believes that farm animals should be consigned directly to their destination rather than indirectly through saleyards or other collection points. 2. 2 Farm animals must be slaughtered as close as possible to the point of production to minimise stress caused by the transportation process. 2.

7. 1 The RSPCA believes that companion animals must be safely restrained when travelling in/on a vehicle or vessel, as appropriate to the species and individual animal. 7.

8. 1 The RSPCA believes that the transportation of animals by air within Australia and internationally to and from Australia must be carried out, at the very minimum, in accordance with the International Air Transport Association’s Live Animal Regulations. 8.
