| 2.1 | RSPCA Australia advocates for strong and effective animal welfare legislation that reflects contemporary scientific knowledge and community expectations. |
| 2.2 | Animal welfare legislation must recognise the sentience of animals and impose a positive duty of care on all people who have animals in their care. |
| 2.3 | RSPCA Australia advocates for state, territory and federal governments to dedicate sufficient funding and resources to ensure the timely and effective review, implementation and enforcement of animal welfare legislation. |
RSPCA policies reflect the best available evidence to direct and guide RSPCA and others, to promote and achieve good animal welfare outcomes.
Reference to ‘the RSPCA’ or ‘RSPCA’ in this document means RSPCA Australia and each of the RSPCA Australia member Societies.
