RSPCA Policy F4 Export of live animals for purposes other than slaughter

4.1

The RSPCA believes that animals must only be permitted to be exported from Australia where:

  • the export is other than that of live animals for slaughter
  • all alternatives to prevent export (e.g. the export of genetic material) have been thoroughly explored by the person responsible for the animal(s) and considered to be unsuitable or unachievable
  • transport is conducted by air in accordance with best welfare practice, and
  • there are effective animal protection laws in the destination country which are adequately enforced.
(adopted 21/05/2023)
