Tadpoles develop from frog eggs and develop into frogs. They are easy creatures to keep, provided that they are given the proper care. Equipment Plastic containers, trays, aquariums and large glass jars are suitable to house tadpoles. The water need not be deep, but a large surface area is necessary if an aerator is not used. Water plants can be provided as well as protruding rocks to allow the tadpoles to climb onto as they develop into frogs. Keep the container away from direct sunlight to prevent the water temperature from becoming too high and killing the tadpoles. Feeding Tadpoles are herbivores (plant eaters) and will eat most water plants, algae, small pieces of lettuce (that have been boiled for a short time) and also egg yolk. Be careful that the water does not become fouled from overfeeding.
