The Approved Farming Scheme currently includes only the intensive animal production systems, the ones where welfare issues are much more prominent. We have standards for pigs, layer hens, and meat chickens. On the other hand however we are in the process of preparing a list of guidelines and recommendations for cattle and sheep production. While it is very unlikely that cattle and sheep will be included in the Approved Farming Scheme, we might establish another system for extensive animal production, where the producer might be acknowledged based on the application of the guidelines in the list mentioned above.
